Addressed to: Miss Altha E. Farnham, Dalton Pa. R.F.D. # 2.
Dear Altha: Rec'd your postal all right. I did not see you to the dance Sat. night -- I was there and had a dance with the fellow who wears the rubber collar. I had a fine time. I am going up to Maybells Thur. for a few days. Ans. soon. Eva.

Go rubber collar man!
great postcard, where did you get it?
So glad you asked. I found the postcard in a box of old postcards, some written and sent, others yellowed but otherwise untouched, in a sprawling second-hand bookstore in Virginia. That place has books from floor to ceiling, piled high on every available surface, in window sills and on long unweildy shelves, snaking from one part of the store to the other. Some of the books, whole sections, are tucked away in secret annexes.
My father had a plausible explanation for the rubber collar. He says they used to have these rural dances in the 30’s, and the boys would have detachable plastic collars they could wear over any shirt to make it a little dressier. But here, Altha says the fellow with the rubber collar – like there was only one, and her correspondent will know exactly who she’s referring to.
(I'm with you -- go rubber collar fellow!)
I just find it all so colorful and quaint. My first thought, and the reason I bought the card (you can see what I paid for it – it wasn’t cheap), was that this would be good material for a novel. If I ever got around to writing a novel.
You rat!
Damn that time stamp!
Oh, but you are not a rat. Quite the contrary :-) ...
Good novel material, indeed!
As for the rubber clothing, I shall refrain from commenting... (!)
Rubber collars, now that fine pair of hooters...
Hey, how about a picture of my big, inflated cock?...
